About Me

Love to Travel? Tips for Success I have always loved to travel. When I was growing up, my parents took us to a new location during every summer and winter break. My siblings and I had a blast visiting new cities and states and my parents always made sure we learned a lot about the local cultures. I especially loved trying new local foods, since every city had their local specialties. My parents were always impressed at my willingness to try new foods at my young age. I loved traveling so much that I decided to become a traveling nurse, and I now get paid to travel around the country! I know there are many people out there new to traveling who need tips on choosing destinations, preparing for trips, and packing well. I plan to share tips on these travel topics and much more on my new travel blog!

Roatan With Kids: How To Prepare, Where To Stay, What To Do!

Roatan is an island off of the coast of Honduras. It is known for having coral reefs and white sand beaches. Roatan is a popular destination for cruise ships, but there is plenty to do to keep you occupied for a longer vacation. It isn't just for the adults, either. Kids of all ages will enjoy a trip to Roatan.

Where to Stay

There are many incredible places to stay during your visit to Roatan. If you are taking the whole family, a beachfront villa would provide ideal accommodations. There are many gorgeous villas available to rent that can accommodate both large and small families. These rentals are perfect for families with children. You will enjoy the comforts of home, your children will be free to frolic freely, and you won't have to worry about your family's excitement interfering with other guests' vacations. Contact a Roatan beachfront vacation villa rental agency to learn more.

Before You Go

There are several things that need to occur before you set off on your adventure. Your whole family will need passports for this journey, including the children. This needs to be done far in advance since passports can take 6-8 weeks to process and receive.

You will also need to make sure that everyone is up to date on their vaccinations. If you have a baby that is not a year old yet, the CDC recommends that they receive the MMR vaccine. They can get this vaccine at 6 months old but will need to get it again as scheduled when they turn a year old. There are other vaccines that some people will want to talk to their doctors about, such as Hepatitis A or typhoid. It may be a good idea to find out what you can do to prevent illnesses spread by mosquitoes.

Figuring Out the Logistics of Traveling with Kids

When you are traveling with children, there are things you need to think about and have a plan for that you don't have to worry about on an adults-only trip. For example, how are you going to get from place to place? The United States has car seat laws, but Honduras does not require children to sit in car seats. If you plan on driving or riding in a vehicle, you need to decide if you will bring car seats or take other precautions.

Roatan is not only a great place for adults to visit, but it is a great place for families to visit. Staying at a beachfront villa can provide comfortable lodging for your entire family. Give your children an experience they won't forget by traveling to Roatan.
